TRAITMARKSKNOW MORE ABOUT THE PERSON
A Traitmark® is a pattern of behaviour that makes a person distinct and recognisable. Not what someone has achieved, but how they’ve consistently shown up, and what people can rely on them for.
WHAT IS A TRAITMARK®
Traitmark (n.) A defining characteristic, quality or pattern of behaviour that makes a person distinct and recognisable. A Traitmark® may be a skill, personal attribute or symbolic archetype, anything that reveals how an individual shows up in the world and what others can consistently rely on them for.
The Traitmark® framework is built on neuroscience research combined with 20 years of organisational insight into what it takes to succeed in a role.
Together, they answer five questions about an individual’s reputation:
Can they be trusted in how they treat others?
Can they remain steady under pressure?
Can they sustain purpose without being externally supplied?
Will they grow and strengthen over time?
Can they adapt as environments evolve?
THE FIVE TRAITMARKS®
The first five Traitmarks form the foundation of how people show up in organisations.
Traitmarks blocks
HUMAN
Compassion at core
Recognises the person behind the role. Builds trust through care, dignity, and respect.
HUMAN creates environments where others feel safe and valued. Their empathy is paired with integrity. They build enduring trust through compassion that is consistent across time, context and pressure.
ROCK
Durable under pressure
Stays composed when it matters most. The person others look to when everything is uncertain.
ROCK reflects how someone behaves when the heat is on. They withstand high-stress situations without crumbling, drawing on mental and physical steadiness to stay composed when it matters most.
COMPASS
Guided by purpose
Generates motivation from within. Aligns actions to values rather than waiting for meaning to be provided.
COMPASS reflects how someone constructs and sustains an internal sense of purpose. Their decisions are guided not just by external incentives, but by a self-authored connection between their actions and their values.
CHAMELEON
Adaptable in change
Finds opportunity in uncertainty. Adjusts, aligns, and helps others move forward with confidence.
CHAMELEON doesn’t just adapt to change, they lean into it. They align quickly to new visions, bring teams with them, and often become the person who makes the transition feel possible.
ARCHITECT
Designs their development
Doesn’t wait to be developed. Actively seeks stretch, integrates feedback, and build towards what’s next.
ARCHITECT reflects how someone deliberately shapes their capability over time. They do not drift through roles or wait actively to be developed. They design the next version of themselves in response to evolving demands.
